Fall Family Fun At Westphalia Trading Co

By Megan Shadrick September 24, 2017

Despite the heat our family got in the fall spirit thanks to our visit to the Westphalia Trading Co this weekend. I don’t know what our boys enjoyed the most as there was so much to do and explore. As you walk through the barn you can stop and feed the friendly goats, play at the farm activity table, or jump in and start digging through the corn. As you make your way through the shaded grounds, you can wave hello to the ducks, turkeys, peacock’s, and pigs. Your kids can jump on a peddle tractor and drive around, climb up in the tree house, and go hiking through the woods in search of the corn maze. When I say hiking, I mean hiking! These are real dirt trails that take you up and down hills and through the woods. If you have little ones with you, I recommend a stroller or wagon with large wheels if you plan to explore the trails and enjoy the woods. Our boys; two and three years old were able to make it to the corn maze and through the corn maze but getting back up all the hills was a little tough.
In traditional toddler fashion it didn’t take them long to recover from their hike and getting lost in the corn maze. They jumped in barrels to go on a train ride and found some friendly ponies to give them a ride. We of course ended our adventure with giant chocolate chip cookies and purchasing pumpkins to bring home to decorate.
If this heat has you having a difficult time getting in the fall spirit, head on over to the Westphalia Trading Co next weekend and tell them Macaroni Kid sent you! In addition to all the things they already offer; they will also be adding a hay ride next week. I highly recommend you add this as a place to bring your family this fall as there really is a lot to do and see for all ages!
